How often should I get a massage?
We are often asked this question, and we all know everyday is a good day for a massage…realistically, what is the ideal time between appointments?
There are many things to consider when scheduling a massage.
What are you goals for your massages?
Is Massage some thing that you enjoy doing just for relaxation?
Are you experiencing pain, injury, or discomfort and using massage to help eliminate or manage these symptoms?
Here’s what you should know about massage while sick:
At The Elm, we typically see clients with tissue issues, aches, pains, injuries, and ergonomical dysfunction. We see people that fall in this category more frequently in the beginning. Maybe weekly for four weeks and then reassess and drop down to twice a month and eventually to a once a month maintenance schedule.
Your body took months to years to create its dysfunction and it’s seldom a quick fix. Massage for pain is a partnership and we love working in tandem with our clients to get them out of pain patterns through consistent care.
A recent consumer study sponsored by the American Massage Therapy Association indicates that 88 percent of individuals view massage therapy as beneficial to overall health and wellness. From relieving pain to increasing mobility, and as complementary therapy to mental health management.
Ultimately there is no right or absolute answer to how often you should get massage, we want you to understand that you should listen to your body, talk to your massage therapist about your goals, and formulate a plan that addresses your needs and suits your budget.
It is encouraged to switch up the frequency as needed to fully understand where that sweet time frame between appointments lies. As always, we are here to help you feel and live your best.
